So you want to get on American Idol? You think you have what it takes? American Idol auditions typically begin in begin with Orlando, Florida and San Diego, California on August 25, auditions began in San Francisco where thousands of people gathered to get their shot at becoming the next American Idol. If you want to know how to get on American Idol, here are a few tips you will need…
Find a city near you. Sometime after the American Idol season ends, audition cities are announced on the American Idol website. Find a city or a few cities that you would like to audition in and plan to make the trip out there to audition. Make sure you plan a few days before and after the audition date for travel time and unexpected events.
Register. Registration begins two days prior to the audition date. You can register during the two days of registration as well as through the morning of auditions. However, DO NOT wait until the morning of auditions, as you will be the last to register and space may run out! After you register, you will get a wristband and seating assignment for audition day. Make sure you register in each city that you intend to audition in. You must bring two forms of ID, proof of your age (drivers license, passport, or birth certificate), and a photograph.

Audition. On audition day, make sure to bring your wristband, ticket, signed release, and two forms of ID to the audition venue by 5am. Don’t be late! Auditions will begin around 8am.
